Chilly nights and Belgian flights...2/23/11
Just handed a fine sack of sample suds. After a 12 hrs day, yes I left the house at 930am and pulled into the driveway at 1155pm I was ready to drop in front of the computer. Anthony at Ski beer peaked my interest with a new Belgian offering that kept calling my name. So yes, I cracked Omer Traditional Blond Ale and the first taste had a bite. The belgian Yeast is so unique with such strcuture that I always feel Belgian ales are meant to be sipped and rolled around the tongue. Only then can the various layers be discoved. In the case om sir Omer the first quarter of the bottle pushed hard with the disticitve characteristics of the East. Soonmellowing the second half of the bottle suggested light flowers that ease the yeast to the back and a more gentle mouthfeel is presented. It's definitely hard to tell at first this beer is kickin it at 8%abv's yo so I am down to the bottom half of the beer and its doing its magic. Feeling a steb back the beer is swallowed hard and its pure rereshment as it timgles your lips. Definitely a gassed up brew as the belches are flyinmg. Thats hot! The last swig seemed to have lost much of the exciteemtn fro and was more creamy and heady like a essenceof a belgian in a foiam, the beginning and left me feeling unsure if I would want a second,. especially this shit wholesale is not pretty. Give me a McChouf please......
